Austin! What is there even left to say, since so many fucking people are talkin' and playin' at once at any given moment...we started off with a bang, or, rather, a pop, that is, the pop of dead transistors. Two songs into our set, our sole amp went kaput. Bummer. We somehow managed, played our second show of the evening, and moved on. Now we're practicing Green Day and Michael Jackson grooves for our St. Louis show, backing rapper Froggy Serrington. We're going legit!

Finally we approach the heart of Texas...about bloody time! We cruised into Dallas at dawn, even had time to take advantage of our federal subsidies at the local Whole Foods. Evan Horn did us more than right; he took us full damn around. We plowed through our set like a carousel gone apeshit. We sold copies of our records for the first time! Totally beat, we took to an empty room and crashed next to a comfortable pile of wires and rocks. The morning was gorgeous and easy. Hot tamales and coffee! We're in Austin now. It looks crazy out there. We're taking it easy tonight, but we'll be out tomorrow.

it feels like years since SF...but it's been 5 days. At 1500+ miles, we can barely remember where we've been. I'll let the photographic evidence lead the way. Also, we made a blood pact with the Hermit Thrushes to blog about them. They in turn will blog about us, and we will both blog about our blogs. LZ Ministries whole-armedly embraces this new and bright feedback loop.

We are leaving for the big USA tour in just a few days! We'll be playing 30 or 40 shows all over the place, except for the major east coast area... Keep a lookout!
Our LP "American Derivative" is pressing TODAY and shipping out after we leave, we might have them by the time we get to Tijuana in a week or we might have them shipped elsewhere. Each cover is uniquely painted then screen printed. Snowflakes, every one.

We also have about 20 lathe-cut Laser Disc 12" EPs released by PIAPTK Recordings. Yes, it's an actual Laser Disc with grooves cut into it so you can play it on your turntable. The release features the 10 minute song "Highway Hypnosis" on one side and hand-painted art on the other. They are expensive and totally special. each copy is handmade and has a different endlesss loop at the end of the song so you never have it take it off your turntable!

Olympia filmmaker Aris Chagoya recently shot a music video for American Derivative's lead-off track, "Moses." The video will be done soon and is watchable with red-and-blue 3D glasses, so if you see a pair hang on to it and it might do you some good.

Lazer Zeppelin is very excited to embark on this trip! We'll be travelling via station wagon to a town near you! See y'all then!

All Night Diner at the Fabric Shire

On our recent west coast tour we picked up a new song our buddy Cameron wrote for his country singing group The Amazing and Incredible Randy. When we got to his town, he came to watch us play and heard that we did one of their tunes, and requested we play it. We gave him a microphone and he joined in. The video doesn't do justice to the Fabric Shire, the unique space where we performed in Eureka, CA. We are all suspended up in the ceiling of the room upon a great net of interwoven fabrics. Andrew, seated in a little chair bolted to the wall, is playing the drums in midair. the piano is hanging from the ceiling and there are a few audience members directly underneath us. if you ever go to eureka ask around about this place. Thanks to Ruth Miller for the video! We luvz ya!

From the road. We just left humboldt county where last night we played a special invite-only set at the fabric shire. Freshly reunited are Alex, Andrew, Markly and Sara. wrapped around a bucket of ice water full of edible rocks that only he
knows about. those "rocks" are probably pretty tasty, he thinks to

here is proof that Lazer zeppelin played wiithout half of the members. now that's versatile! you can make out markly and alexis, with andy's back, his remainder obscured by an onlooker. sara was in colorado, evan was in hawaii, and nobody else was in the band at the time. this was mid-august probably, at chez puget in olympia wash. we are going to go to sears oor something for a professional family photo sometime this week if we can swing it, but- busy busy busy... taken by skip allums
